Key to staying productive in your workplace

Key to staying productive in your workplace

Everyone has just 24 hours in a day, some of us manage to accomplish our targets many of us lag. Fulfilling our dreams do not necessarily require us to work 24*7, we can achieve our goals by working even 10 hours a day and 5 days a week. Trust me, it is possible to do it and not lose your mind.

Productivity is something which we can’t achieve in a single day. It requires consistency, commitment and discipline towards your goals. All these terms go hand in hand when it comes to being productive. For me, productivity is not a state but it’s a continuous journey. Few small adjustments can lead to more lasting changes which will help you to move the path of productivity. Let’s try it out:

Make a to-do-list of your daily tasks:

Don’t be too harsh on yourself. We tend to make such a list which are way too complex and very difficult to achieve. Start by making a simple and reasonable list, leaving some room for free time. Once you complete the list, you will feel a sense of accomplishment. Further, it will motivate you to work even harder. You must have heard “Taste the success once, the tongue wants more.”

Stick to your routine:

Consistency is the most underrated success factor. It’s human nature to procrastinate which cause work to pile up. Sticking to your routine will help you stay positive, focused and have better control over your working hours. Setting up a workflow of your daily activities including morning exercises, daily shower, timely meals, dedicated working and timely sleep will do wonders in your life.

Take a day off:

If you try to work 7 days a week without taking a break, you would be the thing that breaks. It’s a standard that the human mind and body aren’t designed to easily achieve, and you will hurt yourself confirming the theory. Try to set it so you have at least one or two days a week to “not hustle.” Taking a day off help you rejuvenate, gives you a fresh start and gives you time to actually self-analyse which does not happen so often.

Do something that you love:

Doing what you love will instantly increase your productivity by 40%-50%, without following all these textbook measures. It will feel less like a chore, and increasingly less like work in the first place. You will objectively have less time during the weeknights to goof off, but hopefully you’ll be having so much fun you won’t even notice. And because your dreams and passions are things that you enjoy thinking about, you’ll find yourself devoting spare brain power to them throughout the day, and daydreaming about them.

Remember the reason for doing:

The process might be hard, the target may be difficult to achieve but don not forget the reason behind why are you doing the work. It will help you keep motivated and stay focused in the long run. Because we love it so much that it’s worth doing by any means necessary. Because it means so much to us that some condensed schedules, or extra stress, or late nights, or even pain, will be worth it in the short term if it means deep fulfilment and happiness and dreams achieved in the far term.

Try these habits for a month, and you will make it for years and years to come.
